kloia is an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner and one of the only four application modernization-nominated AWS partners in the world. Based in Turkey, they provide DevOps as a service and help companies around the world transition to cloud services.Watch on demand
To start, Onur explains how kloia rapidly went from discovering Humio, to using Humio every day, to partnering with Humio to share its services with their clients.
“We always prefer working with Humio in that manner because first of all, it’s way cheaper than the competitors. And also it can give you the chance to analyze your logs and metrics in real time. I always repeat ‘real time’ because it’s really important. I can confidently say it is the best tool we’ve used so far, which is why we keep our partnership with them.”
Onur details how Humio’s unique architecture and live streaming data meet the core need of monitoring performance problems in the cloud environment. He explains that Humio not only beats competitors on price, but it also adds something even more valuable — time. By providing instant alerts of errors, it effectively puts time back on the clock, allowing the team to respond to issues in real time, reducing the financial damage of outages, and sometimes responding even before customers notice.
“Easily search all logs from one place. Having them all in one place gives you a huge advantage. You can analyze and consult different types of data. You can create alerts based on your rules. You can make dashboards and share them with other people in your company which gives you transparency your company needs.”
Humio’s fair pricing saves you money twice — you can use it in test environments without paying more, which in turn encourages you to closely examine performance, reducing costly errors when you move to production.
Onur takes us through two demos to show us how easy it is to set up and deploy Humio.
Install with Terraform and send AWS CloudTrail logs to Humio
For the setup of AWS to Humio, Onur shows us how to do it using the Infrastructure-as-code tool Terraform, but users can just as easily use Amazon’s CloudFormation. After completing the setup, Onur shows the simplicity of Humio’s queries and how to save them as widgets to a dashboard with just a few clicks.
Collect NGINX logs with EC2 and set up alerts
In the demo, Onur shows how Elastic’s Filebeat can easily be configured to ship to Humio. After configuring the intake of NGINX logs, Onur shows how to set up alerts and shows us what an alert looks like and how it directs users in real time to the relevant logs.
“These are predefined integrations for notifications: You can directly send an email. You can use Opsgenie, PagerDuty, or VictorOps. Or you can directly send your Slack a message. Or you can use a webhook. That means you can literally do whatever you want!”
